Category: Small Family
Price Range: £13,750 to £18,845
Looks smart, in a conservative way; well-equipped and roomy.
Still expensive; not as sporty to drive as it looks; quality can be variable; noisy 2.0-litre engine.
An attractive car with a credible junior-executive image, but now dated.

VW dealers have always found it harder to shift Boras than Golfs, most are willing to have a haggle, and in the run-up to the Bora's discontinuation, there should be some hefty discounts on offer. Certainly, Volkswagen is starting to slim down the line-up and "realign" specifications, with re-badged models such as the Highline packing in more kit for the price. The Bora is now looking better value than it ever has done, if you don't mind its slightly dated dynamics.
Insurance premiums, servicing costs and fuel consumption are all competitive.
