Vauxhall Zafira (2005-) Review

Category: Compact MPV 4 out of 5

Summary of the Vauxhall Zafira (2005-)

Price Range: £16,495 to £24,995

Assets

Even more spacious and practical than before, better to drive and better looking, class-leading safety.

Drawbacks

Still a bit on the dull side to look at, badge snobs will look elsewhere.

Verdict

A brilliant package that's been cleverly evolved into a class leader.

Vauxhall Zafira Review

Safety and Security4.5 out of 5

The Zafira packs a full range of dynamic stability programmes to help avoid an accident in the first place. Vauxhall has also made huge strides in crash safety, gaining the full five-star EuroNCAP rating. There are twin front, side and head airbags as standard, and as befits such a family-oriented car, a seat occupancy detection system works out whether the ISOFIX-equipped front passenger seat is occupied or fitted with a transponder-equipped child seat. The system disables the airbag if necessary.

The new Zafira is also one of the first cars to comply with the latest European pedestrian safety guidelines. There are energy-absorbing elements around the bonnet and a specially designed shroud over the engine reduces the risk of severe leg and head injuries to pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.

And for security, even the most basic Zafira features an alarm.
