Vauxhall Meriva (2003-) Review

Category: Compact MPV 3.5 out of 5

Summary of the Vauxhall Meriva (2003-)

Price Range: £13,125 to £17,270

Assets

Versatile seating, spacious, 1.3 diesel engine

Drawbacks

Low gearing, unsettled over bumps

Verdict

Practical and with brilliant rear seat packaging, Vauxhall shows the way forward for small MPVs

Vauxhall Meriva Review

Running Costs3.5 out of 5

The smaller petrol engines are similarly frugal, at around 43mpg, with the 1.8 returning 35.8mpg. The diesels are much better, as expected, with the 1.3 returning 56.5mpg and the 1.7 53.3mpg.

Insurance groups are very reasonable, ranging from group 3 to 6, depending on engine and trim.

Vauxhall is claiming some of the lowest repair costs in the class (this claim is backed by the cheap insurance costs), thanks to pre-assembled frame sections.
