Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer Review

Overview4 out of 5

Some cars make much more sense in estate form and the Insignia, a little underwhelming as a saloon or hatchback, is one of them. A handsome 'Sports Tourer' (Vauxhall's term to designate it as more of a lifestyle holdall than all-out load-lugger), this version of the Insignia is not only good-looking but roomier than the Vectra estate it replaces.

Engines on offer include a new 1.6 Turbo (180bhp), two 2.0-litre diesels (130bhp and 160bhp), a 2.0 Turbo (220bhp) and the 260bhp 2.8 V6 with four-wheel-drive; six-speed automatic transmission is standard with the V6 and optional with the 2.0 Turbo and the diesels. A low-emissions, high-economy EcoFlex diesel joins the range later in the year, as well as a 190bhp twin-turbo diesel.

Specification levels for the UK are S, Exclusiv, SE, Elite and SRi, and prices start from £17,185.
