Vauxhall Agila (2000-) Review

Category: City Cars 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Vauxhall Agila (2000-)

Price Range: £9,495 to £12,625

Assets

Lovely engines, solid build, commanding stance on the move, lots of space considering external dimensions

Drawbacks

Too dear, basic, slow, notchy gearchange, not exactly stylish, not as efficient/comfortable/refined/etc as a Corsa...

Verdict

One of the nicer high-rise city cars - but it's just not cheap enough to earn recommendation

Vauxhall Agila Review

Safety and Security3 out of 5

For a small car, it's about as safe as you can expect. Vauxhall has designed it with crash-worthiness in mind, and reckons there's a high degree of passive safety on board. Crumple zones deal with major impacts - impressive to see such complicated routes engineered in so snub-nosed a car - while lighter taps are absorbed by an easily-replaced plastic nose section.

ABS brakes are optional, for £300, while a passenger airbag is also an extra £240. Side airbags cost £150, active front head restraints £75.
