When 4x4s started to become fashion accessories, Toyota had the brilliant idea of building one that combined off-road style with hatchback performance, and plenty of other manufacturers followed in its footsteps. Despite the Land Rover Freelander and Honda CR-V, the RAV4 remains a lifestyle off-roader worth considering, provided it isn't pushed too hard off-road. Second-generation models will be launched in August.
