Toyota Land Cruiser Review

Safety and Security3 out of 5

The eighth-generation Land Cruiser gets a considerable upgrade in safety kit. With the addition of knee bags, there are an incredible 14 airbags as standard.

Active head restraints also become standard specification, helping to reduce whiplash in a shunt.

The bonnet, meanwhile, has been designed to absorb more of an impact with a pedestrian, with the leading edge now more deformable in an impact with a small adult or child.

However, it's worth bearing in mind that vehicles with a ladder frame chassis have historically performed worse than those with the equivalent monocoque construction in crash tests.
