Toyota iQ Review

Safety and Security5 out of 5

For something so small you would expect some compromises when it came to safety. Not so with the iQ.

Toyota engineers are confident from in-house testing that the tiny iQ will score the full five stars for adult occupant safety.

So how has Toyota accomplished such a feat? By throwing everything but the technological sink at the iQ.

Stability control is standard, occupants are protected by a rigid safety cell and there's a barely believable nine airbags included in the package.

The attention to detail is astonishing - the engine has been placed as close to the cabin as possible so the iQ can absorb even the most serious collisions. It also features the world's first rear-shield airbags that protect rear passengers in the event of a rear-end shunt.

All Toyota iQ's will be fitted by a Thatcham Category 2 alarm and immobiliser.
