Verdict

New approach to city car compromised by intimidating pricetag and lack of fun.

Toyota iQ Review

Reliability and Quality4 out of 5

The new iQ has a good head start in life when it comes to reliability. Toyota already has a fine reputation for making some of the most reliable cars on the planet, frequently taking honours in customer satisfaction surveys.

In the most recent 2008 JD Power survey the brand ranked fourth (sister firm Lexus was number 1). Better yet, the Aygo was deemed to be the most satisfying city car money can buy, receiving glowing recommendations by its owners.

We expect nothing less than from the iQ. Shame then that the cars we drove didn't feel special inside the cabin. Plastics all felt plasticky and cheap. Not good with that hefty pricetag.
