Suzuki Grand Vitara (2005-) Review

Category: Small 4x4s 2 out of 5

Summary of the Suzuki Grand Vitara (2005-)

Price Range: £13,600 to £18,975

Assets

Looks neat and contemporary, good off-road ability, handles quite well, good value for a 4x4.

Drawbacks

Restless ride, lacklustre performance, coarse engines and transmissions, feels dated to drive.

Verdict

Not the advance we'd hoped for after experiencing the competent Swift. We await the diesel version with interest: meanwhile, a Kia Sportage is a much better bet.

Suzuki Grand Vitara Review

Running Costs3 out of 5

Discounts on the new Grand Vitara will be minimal, which should help residual values.

Insurance groups are unconfirmed, but fuel consumption is unimpressive: 31.0mpg combined for the 2.0, with the 1.6 faring little better at just 32.5mpg.

The warranty is for three years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, and includes roadside assistance and recovery right across Europe. Suzuki currently has 150 UK dealers.
