Rough ride, whiny, underpowered engine, poor build quality.
The Alto is one of the UK's cheapest cars to buy and run, but that's all it has going for it. Tinny and tacky, there are many better choices.
Lightweight and poorly put together, it does meet all current safety standards, but would doubtless fare poorly in a Euro NCAP crash test. There are no airbags, not even as options. It only merits a star for security - no-one would want to steal an Alto.
