Suzuki Alto (2008-) Review

Category: City Cars 2 out of 5

Summary of the Suzuki Alto (2008-)

Price Range: £5,999 to £8,750

Assets

Good fuel economy and low emissions, low insurance and tax, should be tough and durable, good headroom, no-frills ethos

Drawbacks

Poor refinement, dated feel, dull and cheaply-finished cabin, slow performance.

Verdict

Cheap, and feels it; verve-free and devoid of any charisma, the Alto is outclassed and there are better choices out there.

Suzuki Alto Review

Safety and Security2 out of 5

Side airbags are standard-fit (some similarly-priced city cars have them as an extra-cost option) and the top-spec SZ4 gets stability control, traction control and curtain airbags. However, the Alto has not been through the Euro NCAP crash test programme, and a five-star score is extremely unlikely. This is a lightweight, low-cost car, and whilst it will meet the current European safety standards, it is not going to offer as much protection as its European rivals.
