Ford Fiesta (2002-2008) Review

Category: Superminis 3.5 out of 5

Summary of the Ford Fiesta (2002-2008)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Excellent interior space, practical, good safety features, good handling.

Drawbacks

Most engines could do with more pep; hard seats, noisy diesel, excessive road noise on big wheels, one or two inconvenient features.

Verdict

Sensible and fun to drive on the right road, but a bit dull; it also feels a little cheap and flimsy.

Review

Safety and Security3 out of 5

The Fiesta was among the first superminis to optionally offer head-protecting full-length curtain bags, while dual-stage front airbags whose inflation rate is determined by the severity of the impact, are standard, along with front seat side airbags.

It only achieved a four star score in the Euro NCAP crash tests, however (the Clio, 207 and Yaris all scored five), not that outstanding these days.

ABS anti-lock brakes - a crucial safety device - are now standard-fit, in line with the 2006 EU legislation.

A three-point seatbelt for the central rear seat is only an option, however.

The Fiesta is generally secure, with strong locks and an alarm is offered on some models - the ST will demand extra protection.
