Review

Overview3 out of 5

Renault's Clio isn't the best supermini in the sector. Heck, even Nicole and Papa have stopped using it for skulking around rural France looking for discreet sex. These days, size matters instead. Well, that's as may be, but the Clio is not the most spacious car in the class, either. It is continually well marketed, however, and its cheeky appeal and exceptional value for money mean that, even though this model - facelifted in 2001 - still doesn't head the supermini pack, you could buy a far worse car.

Has been replaced by an all-new model late in 2005, although the 2nd generation Clio continues as three-door only Campus and Campus Sport models until Spring 2007. Two 1.2-litre petrol engines and one 1.5-litre diesel engine are offered in the Campus line-up.
