Style, prestige, space, quality, economy and, of course, that Audi badge
Uncompromising ride, poor forward and rear visibility, noisy engines
One of the poshest small cars around; fantastic quality, quirky yet smart styling and good economy all appeal. The ride's too firm and visibility poor, but the A2 is nonetheless a desirable machine, if an expensive one.

The build quality of the A2 is right up there with the rest of the more expensive models in the Audi range. The integrity of the interior is superb, fit and finish tremendous, and despite the lightweight aluminium structure and panels, it feels absolutely solid. Even the minor controls all work with perfect precision.
Audi was so sure of the A2's reliability (or so keen to keep amateur spanner-wielders out) that the bonnet was sealed - owners check fluid levels via a small access hatch, and only Audi service engineers can get into the grubby bits. Seven years on, it seems this confidence was not misplaced: there are few reports of problems with the A2, bar a few failed turbos in early, rarely-used diesels, a few stiff gearboxes and some corrosion to suspension anti-roll bars.
Bear in mind, though, that the A2 is not getting older, and not all independent garages will have the skills and tools to work on something so specialised.
