Style, prestige, space, quality, economy and, of course, that Audi badge
Uncompromising ride, poor forward and rear visibility, noisy engines
One of the poshest small cars around; fantastic quality, quirky yet smart styling and good economy all appeal. The ride's too firm and visibility poor, but the A2 is nonetheless a desirable machine, if an expensive one.

The smallest car in Audi's 21st century range shared its aluminium spaceframe construction with the largest, the A8. The good-looking little A2, however, did not sell in large numbers and was discontinued in 2005: it was simply too expensive for the economy-conscious, though it did find favour in households which probably also had an A6 or A8 on their driveway.
Now seen as a quirky footnote in Audi's history, the A2 could be a collectors' car in the future. At the moment, prices remain expensive even for the earliest examples. Most have high equipment levels, however - Audi offered an extensive options list as well as three standard specification grades. Engines available include 1.4 petrol (75bhp), 1.4 TDI (75bhp or 90bhp) and 1.6 FSI (110bhp, direct-injection petrol) units.
