Fine handling; five-star Euro NCAP score; good ride; DSG option; Ecomotive version on the way
Noisy and unrefined engines; iffy quality; sense of cost-cutting
Nice chassis, good safety, shame about the engines. Disappointing.

Relatively cheap to buy (it costs less than a Polo, certainly) and not too dear to run, servicing and maintenance at Seat dealers is relatively cheap, and insurance groupings are low, depending on model.
Fuel economy's good, too; the 1.2 returns 47.9mpg, the 1.4 45.6mpg and the 1.6 42.8mpg (42.2mpg with the DSG gearbox). Carbon dioxide outputs are 139g/km, 149g/km and 157/159g/km respectively. For real fuel-sipping and low-tax emissions, however, best hang on for next year's 1.9 TDI Ecomotive, which will emit less than 100g/km (free road tax, possible exemption from the London congestion charge) and be correspondingly frugal.
