Whether you are looking for faithful functionalism or scorching sporting performance, the Impreza range offers something for nearly everyone. Unbeatable reliability and high levels of customer satisfaction make the high prices (for the small family class) worth stomaching.
The slightly offbeat, four-wheel drive Impreza would probably be completely overlooked were it not for the rally-winning turbo version, which has gradually become a highly admired machine among car enthusiasts. Yet the non-turbo version is a practical, if expensive, alternative to mainstream choices such as the Astra or Focus. As a four-door saloon, or a five-door hatchback/estate hybrid, the famed Subaru reliability makes it well worth considering. Was replaced in 2001 by a new, somewhat uglier model.
