Subaru Impreza WRX Review

Comfort and Equipment3 out of 5

Nobody buys an Impreza WRX to waft gracefully along a motorway at 70mph. This car is about adrenalin-soaked sorties onto challenging B-roads, and that mission is reflected in the way it goes down the road. There's lots of gear whine, the engine booms away enthusiastically, and you don't ever escape the noise of the wind, tyres and grit as it's catapulted into the wheel arch liners. It's a full-on experience that you love or hate, closer to a superbike than to most other cars.

The ride, while firm over bumps, is certainly more absorbent and quieter than that of the Impreza's key rival, the Mitsubishi Evo IX. The WRX has a noticeably kinder ride quality than the STi, making it much more of an all-rounder.

The WRX and STi are pretty well equipped, too, with standard air con, electric windows, height- and tilt-adjustable driver's seat and a leather Momo steering wheel. The special editions come with different gear knobs and mats.
