Good value for money; a good compromise between performance and everyday usability.
Feels neither as quick nor as performance-focused as other WRX iterations.
Not the most hardcore of hot hatches, but exceedingly enjoyable nonetheless.

This Impreza is refined and comfortable. Though the suspension is firm, it is sympathetic to bumps and lumps, and jarring is well-contained. Riding on 18" alloys with 225/40 ZR 18 tyres, there's a little more cushioning from the outside world than in some rivals.
Intrusion from engine noise is minimal - though there's a pleasing rasp from the exhaust at high revs - and there is little wind or tyre noise. The front seats, with a nod to sports-style sculpting, are soft and well-bolstered and will happily accommodate the broader-bottomed.
All the necessaries are fitted: climate control, front and rear electric windows, cup holders and split-folding rear seats. There's a six-CD autochanger with MP3 input socket, and tinted glass. The WRX S spec also adds headlamp washers, projector-type front fog lamps and xenon headlamps. Options include leather upholstery (£1600).
