Good value for money; a good compromise between performance and everyday usability.
Feels neither as quick nor as performance-focused as other WRX iterations.
Not the most hardcore of hot hatches, but exceedingly enjoyable nonetheless.

Not much more manageable than the hairier WRX Turbos, the WRX S returns a rather disappointing 24.6mpg - if you're lucky. Driven sensibly and staidly, it'll do better, but it's still on the thirsty side. Carbon dioxide emissions are a hefty 270g/km, putting it firmly into tax band G (£385 a year right now) along with far more exotic supercars and the worst gas-guzzling SUVs. Insurance is cheaper for Imprezas than it used to be, but will still be high (Group 18A), though servicing and parts costs aren't too exorbitant.
