Review

On the road3.5 out of 5

All 306's have standard power steering and logically laid out controls, but the clutch is heavy and spongey, the pedals themselves are awkwardly angled for some and the gearchange is a bit notchy. If you're a keen driver, the 306 should be on your shortlist, together with the Ford Focus. Even the cheapest version handles bends with an alacrity that some sports cars struggle to match. And even if you're not a motoring enthusiast, you'll appreciate the ease of driving it on demanding roads.

The 306's engines are fairly refined, although the 1.6 can be a bit hesitant. Performance is average.
