Review

Running Costs4 out of 5

The diesel does an excellent 55.4 mpg, the 1.6 petrol 42.8mpg (40.4mpg with the auto gearbox) and the 1.4 44.8mpg - good returns all round. Carbon dioxide emissions, and hence tax bandings and company car tax liability, are 135 g/km, 171 g/km, 159 g/km and 152 g/km respectively.

Nissan models don't usually hold their value quite as well as cars from more prestigious brands, but its 'niche' products - 4x4s, MPVs, sports cars - return much better residual values than the mainstream hatches. Useful, reliable family cars like this are popular second-hand buyers, so the Note should hold its value fairly well. Servicing and maintenance at Nissan dealers is well priced, and insurance premiums reasonable.
