The car has been in production for four years, but in 2008 customer satisfaction survey JD Power, VW only performs slightly above average. However, the Golf and the Golf plus performed reasonably well: the Golf Plus coming 13th out 100 and the Golf finishing 31st.
It's the same story with reliability. In a reliability league table by independent warranty provider Warranty Direct VW ended up mid-table.
It's not exactly high quality inside the car: the Golf Mark Six will make its debut towards the end of the year so this version feels a little bit long in the tooth, especially in the interior. In the low-spec Bluemotion S there's plenty of spaces where switches should be - it hints at a missed opportunity with the options lists - while plastics look tired and dated.
