Skoda Fabia (2000-2007) Review

Category: Superminis 3.5 out of 5

Summary of the Skoda Fabia (2000-2007)

Price Range: £8,950 to £13,730

Assets

Space, ride comfort, value, feels more expensive than it is.

Drawbacks

Overlight steering at speed, a little stodgy to drive, underpowered economy-price engines best avoided.

Verdict

This roomy Czech-built supermini is great value for money without being cheap and nasty.

Skoda Fabia Review

Running Costs4.5 out of 5

The Fabia represents very good, if not market-shattering, value while returning a healthy profit for a company that operates in a land of low labour costs. Maybe it should be cheaper, but the pricing is a balance between supply, demand and Skoda's need to kill its cheap'n'crude image.

Demand is high on the used market, from canny would-be VW buyers and the Skoda faithful alike. Used values stay strong, and the dealers are still holding all the best stock, though cheaper-priced higher-mileage examples are starting to appear in the private classified ads.
