In 9-3 guise (this model was previously badged 900 and has been around for quite some years) Saab's smallest can no longer match the class best.
Saab's 9-3 has been available since 1998 and, before that, it was labelled 900 - so this model actually dates back to 1994. It shows. All of its competitors are newer, and most are better. The 5-door hatchback is, naturally, the most practical 9-3, but the Coupe doesn't lag far behind (because it's more of a 3-door hatch than a coupe). The effortless style of the Convertible is one of the few things that the 9-3 still has going for it.
