The best effort yet from the resurrected Rolls-Royce brand

We've heard no tales of Phantoms letting their owners down by the side of the road and, given the BMW engineering at their heart and the painstaking way in which they are assembled, anything less would be a surprise. It is therefore safe to assume that, despite its hideous mechanical and electronic complexity, the Coupe will be similarly dependable not just for years on end but, in all likelihood, decades.
As for the quality of its construction, we don't think there is another manufacturer that can get near it - certainly not Maybach and not even Bentley. Like all Rolls-Royces, the basic structure of the car is made in Germany before being shipped to Goodwood for trimming and final assembly and the result is one of the most impressive examples of Anglo-German industrial cooperation you'll ever find. The quality if the woods, hides and metals used inside is second to none but, just as importantly, they have all been assembled flawlessly. Given that almost all of what you can actually see has been put together by hand, it is a fabulous achievement. There will be many who will say no car can be worth nearly £300,000, but look in here and you can at least gain an inkling of how Rolls needs to charge that much for it just to keep their business plan on course.
