Good handling, versatile cabin, fine ride.
Unenthusiastic engine, vague steering, only seats four.
Cheerful, but not very cheap, Twingo is let down by a lacklustre engine and hefty price tag.

In the city car category the Twingo is simply outclassed by cars like the Fiat 500. That car offers comparable performance sprinting to 62mph in 12.5 seconds, just half a second slower than the Renault, but averages 55.4mpg and, importantly, emitting just 119g/km of carbon dioxide.
The Twingo meanwhile averages 49.5mpg and pollutes 135g/km of CO2 meaning it slips in VED Band C, rather than the Band B where the 500 lives. It means the Renault driver pays £120 per year for road tax rather than the £35 the Fiat owner pays.
