The Scenic range scored four stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests, good for a design this old, and the RX4 is kitted out with the usual airbags, ABS brakes and so on as well as the four-wheel drive system. Renault is also good on items like seatbelt pretensioners and restraint systems, and so the RX4 should be pretty safe. An immobiliser and alarm are standard-fit.
