The RX4, launched after the other Scenics, seems to have suffered fewer reliability problems so far, but electrical faults, engine management problems (cutting out, misfiring, poor starting) and poorly-fitting panels have all been noted. The four-wheel drive transmission seems to be holding up, though. Even so, probably best avoided if you plan to do extensive mud-plugging or heavy towing: it may not stand up well to prolonged hard usage.
