Renault Megane RenaultSport Review

Overview4 out of 5

This is the new - and rather tasty-looking - Megane RS. As with other recent RenaultSport models, the Megane RS is available in two guises: a cheaper, more focused Cup model featuring a limited slip differential, Recaro seats and stiffer suspension; and the generously equipped Sport, which has been designed for more comfort.

Both versions boast the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit producing 246bhp and 251lb-ft of torque, which translates into impressive performance figures of 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 156mph. That makes it more powerful and quicker than the outgoing Megane RenaultSport R26 - which was hardly tardy.

Prices start from £21,995 for the Cup model, rising to £22,995 for the better-equipped Sport. Spec for spec, it undercuts most rivals by a decent margin.

But the big question the Megane RenaultSport 250 has to answer is whether it delivers on the road? Read on to find out.
