Sublime handling, incredible grip, bargain pricetag.
Poor practicality for a hatchback, lack of radio and soundproofing make Megane tiring over long distances.
Raw and uncompromised R26.R will be too much for most. Shame, because it's one of the finest hot hatches to have ever turned a wheel in anger.

The old, previous-generation Megane on which the R26.R is based, placed 72nd in the 2008 JD Power satisfaction survey - an appalling result, with owners reporting brake, engine, suspension and steering woes. Against that dismal JD Power result our car looked beautifully built, however. The carbonfibre bonnet on our test car, for example, was flawless and a real thing of beauty.
We have to deduct points for a dash that creaked over bumps, but add them straight back for the inclusion of the tight-gripping Sabelt competition seats.
