Smart looks, 4-wheel steering's added agility, V6 diesel's refinement.
Not that engaging to drive, steering lacks feel.
Renault Coupe majors on style but lacks the ultimate handling edge over the competition.

We drove a range-topping GT model with the quickest engine available - the diesel V6.
The diesel hits the 62mph benchmark in 7.3 seconds, a tenth quicker than its 237bhp 3.5-litre petrol sibling, and packs a generous 332lb-ft of torque from just 1,500rpm compared to the petrol's more modest 243lb-ft.
But to talk power and acceleration does the new 3.0-litre engine a great disservice: it's the high levels of refinement that really leave a mark. At standstill the idling engine is barely perceptible, while almost all of the large diesel's vibration is isolated from the cabin.
The addition of steerable rear wheels on the GT is a real boon. Factor in a super-quick steering rack and roundabouts are dispatched with a mere flick of the wrists.
Over speeds of 37mph the system subtly switches to steering its rear wheels in the same direction as the front. This helps the nose turn into fast corners and, in the big diesel's case, helps hide some of the nose-heaviness we expected.
But the Coupe's steering will never be a class-leader. Despite the precision and accuracy of the steering, little feel is transmitted on how much grip is readily available. Rear-wheel drive fans will also lament the loss of throttle adjustability.
