Fine interior quality, spacious cabin, good refinement, cosseting ride.
Unconventional looks, uncompetitive emissions, poor throttle response.
Koleos' bizarre looks overshadow what is a capable off-roader.

Both quality and reliability have been a top priority for engineers in developing the Koleos.
Since only the radio and satellite navigation are made by Renault, you might like to ignore the French firm's below average performance in customer satisfaction surveys. And you also might choose to ignore its only average scores in well-respected reliability surveys. If you were so moved you might like to align this new 4x4 along with the more reliable Nissan X-Trail on which it's based.
It's up to you how you view that one but in any case, Renault says the substantial investment the firm has made in boosting the quality and durability of all of its products will soon pay off and that customers will soon see a substantial improvement in independent surveys, with or without the Japanese firm's help.
Where quality concerns, it's already easy to see the advances made. Like the Laguna, interior plastics now convince and even after driving continuously on poorly surfaced and rough dirt tracks the Koleos didn't even utter the slightest rattle.
