Porsche image and engineering, fine on-road behaviour, surprising off-road ability.
Not as exciting or economical as you'd like - and is an Audi-engined SUV really a Porsche?
A well-engineered, quality product, though the world doesn't really need it.

As you'd expect from a car which costs more than most people's annual salaries, the Cayenne Diesel is well-made from high-quality materials. There were some build defects reported in the earliest petrol Cayenne models (launched 2003), but Porsche appears to have tackled any issues.
This V6 diesel engine is well-proven in the Volkswagen-Audi line-up and shouldn't have any glitches. The main problem reported by Cayenne owners seems to be excessive and/or uneven tyre wear, though this diesel is less likely to inspire hooligan acceleration, and it also comes with substantial underbody protection for off-roading.
Porsche doesn't appear in the UK-based JD Power customer satisfaction survey so we have to turn to the US survey, where Porsche holds the number one spot. It found that Porsches suffer the lowest number of problems per 100 cars, ahead of Japanese luxury brands Infiniti and Lexus. Impressive.
