Sensational drive, very quick, more fuel-efficient.
PDK is lethargic off the mark without launch control.
New engines and PDK gearbox make Boxster more desirable than ever.

More power, less thirst: everybody wins with the revised second-generation Boxster.
The performance junkies' thirst is quenched by bigger flat-six engines - a 252bhp 2.9-litre (up 10bhp) and a 306bhp 3.4-litre (up 15bhp) - while new technology and the addition of Porsche's double-clutch automatic gearbox reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 15%.
So where's the catch? Certainly not in the driving experience. Already one of the most entertaining and well-balanced drives money can buy, the Boxster is further improved by a limited-slip differential - an option well worth shelling out on.
Perhaps it's a painful price increase over the outgoing model? Nope: the modest 2.5% price levy was wiped out by the VAT decrease.
Maybe you've already spotted the catch: your neighbours would struggle to distinguish the old model from this one. Spot the re-profiled nose, subtly modified front and rear lamps and even, the addition of a pair of LED driving lamps?
For the Boxster's potential customer base this could be the mid-engined Porsche's biggest hurdle - shame, because as you'll find out, it's as fantastic as ever.
