Ease of ownership, should be cheap to run, pulling power
Not that refined, doesn't feel as up-to-date as some rivals, dingy interior
It's a great working vehicle, but not as versatile an all-rounder as some of its rivals

The Ford Ranger accounts for one in every three one-tonne pick-ups sold in the UK, though the flashier Japanese models - Nissan's Navara, Mitsubishi's L200 - have been stealing much of the limelight in this market sector. It is powered by Ford's 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine, and comes in two- or four-wheel-drive form, with Single, four-seat Super Cab or five-seat Double Cab bodystyles. The Ranger is built at Ford's new factory in Thailand, and is sold in 70 different countries - it's a real global model.
