Well-designed cabin, smooth punchy petrol, refined diesel, good to drive.
Ride not as cosseting as the smaller 3008, poor rear headroom with panoramic roof, questionable styling.
5008 is a practical well-made MPV that deserves consideration.

Sometimes, if something's so obvious it's easy to miss.
That's presumably why, until now, Peugeot has completely missed out on creating a compact MPV (the van-based Partner doesn't count) despite the segment growing steadily to a staggering one million cars.
Based on the 308 hatch, the 5008 hasn't been created to storm in and revolutionise the segment. Instead, it benefits from having the Citroen C4 Picasso in the PSA family, packing in all the seat-folding versatility a young family will need. Of course a finely made cabin and a decent range of efficient engines help.
Prices for the 5008 begin at £16,895 for the 1.6 VTi active and stretch to £23,695 for the plush 2.0 HDi auto in Exclusive trim. Find out if we're impressed by Peugeot's latecomer.
