Fine-driving 407 remains a good car, just one that's outshone by its main competitors.
The facelift hasn't improved headroom in the rear or increased the size of the boot. It's still a comfortable place to cover miles in, however - the seats are soft but supportive and the class-leading ride is smooth and unflustered.
The 407 also leads the class for its high levels of standard equipment. Entry-level S trims have seven airbags, ESP, a trip computer and climate control.
The new SR trim is also expected to be a hit of the range. That adds 16" alloys, smart nav satellite navigation and Bluetooth handsfree.
The SE brings front and rear parking sensors, a top-notch satnav, auto lamps and wipers as well as a panoramic sunroof on the SW models.
Finally, the plush GT brings a leather interior, electrically heated seats and the largest 18" alloys.
