Fine ride, good to drive, generous standard equipment.
Interior feels dated, love-'em-or-hate-'em looks.
Fine-driving 407 remains a good car, just one that's outshone by its main competitors.

A piano-black finished dash does not automatically promote the revised 407 to the top of the class for quality. There's still suspect, cheap-feeling plastic a fingertip away. And it still feels a bit loose - the horrid key ignition surround on one of our cars had too much play, but considering the price, you might feel happy to put up with a few of these 'foibles'.
Unfortunately, you might be put off by Peugeot's reputation. It has been consistently near the bottom of the JD Power customer satisfaction surveys, as well as other reliability studies.
In the most recent JD Power 2008 survey the brand languished at the bottom of the table in joint 22nd position with Renault. Owners of the 407 aren't a happy bunch: it ranks 87th out of 100 for satisfaction with owners highlighting poor reliability and issues with the suspension, steering, brakes and service they received at their dealers.
