Extremely refined, fine build quality, diesel one of the best ever.
Not as spacious in the back as size might suggest, styling not as appealing as car it succeeds.
The 407 Coupe does a good job as a long-legged, comfortable cruiser, but it isn't the style leader we'd have liked.

When Peugeot launched the original 406 Coupe back in 1997, observers reckoned that it was even more beautiful than the best coupe efforts from Ferrari. All these years later, it remains a stunning piece of work, elegant, feline and beautifully poised. Sadly, none of these things can be said of its 407 Coupe successor, which is bloated and heavy-handed by comparison. In its favour, though, the 407 Coupe does have masses of presence on the road, and it presents a far more masculine profile.
The 407 Coupe has more front and rear overhang than its saloon sibling, as well as a wider track. Its body sits a little lower, too.
On sale from January 2006, the latest Peugeot coupe is available with 2.2- and 3.0-litre petrol engines, as well as the superb 2.7-litre diesel V6 as used by Jaguar. It's a little more spacious than the 406 Coupe, and Peugeot claims that it is the most structurally rigid car that it has ever produced. Costing from £21,900 to £30,900, the Coupe will be offered in S, SE and GT trim.
