More of the same, but much better.

The engines are all clean and green to an impressive degree, without employing any of the hybrid or stop-start technology currently much in favour at Citroen and BMW.
The HDi 90 version produces a tax-saving 120g/km of carbon dioxide, as well as a wallet-friendly combined fuel consumption figure of 62.7mpg. Even the least economical engine is pretty good: 39.8mpg on the combined cycle recorded by the turbocharged 1.6 petrol. That's also the least clean, giving 167g/km of CO2.
Both 1.6-litre diesels come fitted with a newly developed Michelin Energy Saver tyre, which reduces the car's rolling resistance, which in turn cuts fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. It remains to be seen whether tyre sellers will make it economically viable for owners to fit the same tyres when the first set wear out.
Not all the insurance groups have yet been confirmed, but those so far announced are highly competitive, including group 6E for the 1.6 VTi SE and 10E for the 2.0 HDi SE.
