Smooth punchy sweet-spinning lag-free engine, good ride/handling balance.
Expensive, not particularly sporting.
The sportiest 308 yet is not really that hot, but it's usable and cheap to run.

Euro NCAP's crash test results give the 308 five stars out of five for adult occupant protection, four out of five for child protection and three out of four for pedestrian protection. That's the same pattern as the Citroen C4, VW Golf and Toyota Auris, and better than the Honda Civic, Vauxhall Astra, Seat Leon and Mazda 3.
The 308 comes with a minimum of six and in some cases nine airbags, and all three rear seats have Isofix child seat mounting points.
Even the most basic 308s have anti-lock brakes, with brakeforce distribution and Brake Assist systems. Stability control is standard on all Sport, SE and GT cars. Only the GT model has a Thatcham approved alarm as standard, but all 308s come with deadlocks.
