Peugeot 107 (2005-) Review

Category: City Cars 4.5 out of 5

Summary of the Peugeot 107 (2005-)

Price Range: £8,095 to £8,945

Assets

Simplicity, low price, dealer-fit accessories, decent crash test score.

Drawbacks

No diesel engine choice, back seats' limited space, tiny boot.

Verdict

The 107 proves that a car built to a price doesn't need to concede good handling and decent practicality.

Peugeot 107 Review

Overview4.5 out of 5

The 107 is the successor to the popular 106 and is Peugeot's offering from the Peugeot-Citroen and Toyota joint city car venture. Built alongside its near-identical sister cars at a purpose-built factory in the Czech Republic, the 107's quality and refinement far outstrip that of the 106.

Almond-shaped headlights similar to those found on larger Peugeots, and a gaping-mouth front bumper differentiate the 107 from the C1 and Aygo. At the rear, the 107 shares its rear bumper with the C1 but instead of smoky, translucent rear lights as on the Citroen, the 107 has red units.

Both three- and five-door versions are available, but the 107 is offered in just one trim level - Urban - and with just one engine - the three-cylinder 1.0-litre 68bhp unit common to the trio. A diesel option doesn't figure. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard, but buyers can specify a 2-tronic automated manual 'box.

Standard equipment includes four airbags, ISOFIX mounting points, ABS anti-lock brakes with stability control, CD player, electric front windows, remote central locking and body coloured bumpers and mirrors. Options include air conditioning, curtain airbags and dealer-fit alloy wheels and styling upgrades.
