Comfort upgrades make this a serious threat to Freelander's market domination.
All models come with remote central locking with anti-hijack feature (only the driver's door opens on the first plip), an ultrasonic alarm and immobiliser. All models also have twin front and side airbags, five three-point seatbelts, Isofix child seat mounts and active head restraints to reduce whiplash injury. Though the 2004 model hasn't been crash-tested by independent body Euro NCAP, the 2001 model scored a sound four stars for frontal and side impacts. It also received two stars for pedestrian safety - especially good for this class, in which some 4x4s scored no stars.
