Few quibbles about the former: Nissan regularly verges on the top of customer satisfaction surveys and the X-Trail itself was 100 percent trouble-free in the 2002 Which? survey. The 2004 X-Trail is so similar to the previous version that it's unlikely Nissan made any gaffes during the changeover. Interior quality was one of the areas Nissan improved with the 2004 model; the centre console features tidier, easier-to-use rotary dials for heating and ventilation, while cupholders were repositioned so that they can be cooled or chilled by the air-con. Softer-plastics are more widespread too and, overall, the X-Trail's interior is the measure of most cars in this class.
