The Qashqai has achieved the full five stars for adult occupant safety and according to crash testing body, Euro NCAP, recorded the highest ever score for front and side impact. An impressive four-star rating was awarded for child safety and two stars, out of a possible four, given for pedestrian protection. All versions come complete with six airbags as standard. ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution is standard, but ESP stability control is only fitted to the 2.0-litre versions as standard and is a cost option on the smaller engines.
All three rear-seat passenger get a three-point seat belt, and two Isofix mounting points are set within the rear bench.
An engine immobiliser is standard, with an alarm fitted to all models except the diesel and 1.6-litre entry-level Visia versions. Nissan's Intelligent Key is fitted to top spec Tekna versions, allowing you to keep the key in your pocket when unlocking and starting the car.
Automatic central locking is standard across the range.
