Cheap, low polluting and fuel-efficient, availability of an auto and five-door.
Not very cheerful, poor ride and refinement, stingy kit-count, nasty plastics.
Pixo struggles against better-equipped, more competent rivals but beats them on price.

More and more manufacturers are working together to make cheap cars because they realise that economies of scale can absorb the huge development costs required to build new models.
The Nissan Pixo is a case in point: this 'new' Nissan is, in fact, a re-badged Suzuki Alto.
Suzuki - or more accurately its Indian subsidiary Maruti - has done all the hard work, leaving Nissan to design just a pair of new headlamps, grille, bonnet and rear bumper.
Still, who can decry the Pixo when it averages an incredible 64.2mpg, emits a saintly 103g/km of CO2 and is priced from just £5,995?
Is this cynical or smart? Read on to find out if the Pixo is perfect for penny pinchers or just a cheap trick.
