Nissan Micra (1998-2002) Review

Category: Superminis 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Nissan Micra (1998-2002)

Price Range: £7,895 to £13,395

Assets

Rounded, naive-looking styling, light controls, build quality.

Drawbacks

Rounded, naive-looking styling, ride comfort falls behind current standards.

Verdict

Love it or loathe it for its looks. As a car, it's unexceptional, but well made and very reliable.

Nissan Micra Review

Comfort and Equipment3.5 out of 5

Ride comfort is not the Micra's forte, because its very simple rear suspension can set up some odd sideways wobbles at speed on bumpy roads. Up to that point, though, it's smooth enough, and mechanical noise levels are quite bearable. Air-conditioning is optional. That cuddly styling makes the Micra look smaller than it is. In fact it's quite a spacious car, apart from its diminutive boot, and the domed roof gives good headroom. Open-plan facia incorporates a handy, wide, dash-top shelf. All have the RDS traffic news facility, and a CD-stacker is optional. So is a hands-free phone.
