Summary of the Mitsubishi Lancer (2005-)

Price Range: £14,499 to £24,149

Assets

Cheap to buy, should prove reliable, good specification levels

Drawbacks

Short service intervals, bland styling, engine noisy, no diesel option

Verdict

For those who just need to get from A to B without much fuss - don't expect a mini-Evo.

Mitsubishi Lancer Review

Overview3 out of 5

Those of you seeking a turbocharged rally-bred four-wheel-drive saloon should turn away now, for this Lancer is a distant relation to the fire-breathing Evo. Replacing the Carisma that finally went out of production in 2004 after nine years, non-Evo saloon and estate Lancers are now on sale in the UK.

Mitsubishi is targeting buyers who want a good-value, dependable car with few frills. Potential Lancers customers are likely to be those who do small mileages, occasionally carry passengers and value simplicity and reliability above image and performance.
